44 Cherry St, Ballina NSW 2478, Australia The Gallery Café
Known mostly for its Big Prawn, shopping centres and senior-weighted population (20% of the population is over 65) I held little hope of stumbling across a tasty cup of coffee in Ballina and was happily surprised by The Gallery Café. Lovely lunch follow…
65 Carlyle St, Byron Bay NSW 2481, Australia The Top Shop
Set back from the beach and the town, The Top Shop is lovely weatherboard building with a nice feel and good coffee.
Lawson St & Massinger St, Byron Bay NSW 2481, Australia Beach Café
About 20 metres from the sand, the Beach Café is hard to beat for for a quick coffee and some breaky after a bodysurf. Double-espresso was tasty but little too smooth; breakfast was delicious and expensive.
Clyde St, Batemans Bay NSW 2536, Australia South Bank Café
Drinkable, which is more than you can say for every other coffee experience I’ve had in Bateman’s Bay.
King George Terrace, Parkes ACT 2600, Australia Pork Barrel Café
I’ve been here many a time before early morning frisbee training on the lawns near the National Rose Garden. Usually it’s half-decent, today it was unbearable. Two sips and straight down the drain.
Macpherson St, O'Connor ACT 2602, Australia All Bar Nun
Decent place for a beer. Absolutely terrible coffee. Undrinkable.
Childers St & University Ave, City ACT 2601, Australia As You Like It
It varys a little, but for the most part they deliver a good quality espresso. Bonus points for delicious food and hordes of cute undergrads.
10 Binara St, City ACT 2601, Australia Glass House Café
A bit of a souless public servant hangout—pretty sure I was the only person there not wearing a suit. The glass house bit is quite nice, but the inside feels like cafeteria not café.
Coffee was drinkable, though nothing to write home about.
Dalby St, Fyshwick ACT 2609, Australia Deli Planet
Half decent coffee and a puntastic name. Probably as good as it gets at the Fyshwick Markets.
281 King St, Newtown NSW 2042, Australia Café C
I seem to remember Café C being a nice place to sit and enjoy the madness that is Newtown on a Saturday. Not sure if my memory is failing me, but it seems to have gone down hill since my last visit. Coffee was OK, breakfast half-decent.
Nothing of no…
