NGA Members’ Lounge National Gallery of Australia, Parkes Pl, Parkes ACT 2600, Australia

I haven’t been to the standard NGA café for a while, but in my experience it’s more on the side of miss than hit. So if you can sneak into the Members’ Lounge it’s worth your while. The coffee is by no means amazing, but it’s tasty enough. The day I visited the staff showed tremendous patience in dealing with the two horrible women in front of me who were causing a fuss over nothing.

The National Library’s café serves some tasty espresso accompanied by a small menu of exquisitely made dishes. Nice and quiet with plenty of space. Free WiFi. Chinotto.

Decent long black, though a touch on the expensive side. Worth visiting if you’re in the building and the weather is conducive to sitting out in the courtyard.

Lovely location in Old Parliament House though service can vary and the Café is on the expensive side. My most recent long black was, sadly, no better than plunger coffee.

Pork Barrel Café enjoys some nice surroundings, situated in the park across from Old Parliament House. I enjoyed a well-made piccolo latte. Service was a bit patchy, particularly given we were the only group in the entire café.

I’ve been here many a time before early morning frisbee training on the lawns near the National Rose Garden. Usually it’s half-decent, today it was unbearable. Two sips and straight down the drain.
