One of the trendy options in the café-packed Garema Place, though it was full of mothers groups when I visited today so I think it may have lost that battle to Cream or Tongue and Groove. The coffee is certainly drinkable. Not terrible, but that’s about all you can say about it.

    My double macchiato was too milky but otherwise enjoyable. If the coffee here isn’t quite the best in the Garema Place area, at least you can relish a certain rarified chic atmosphere without the snobbery of the sevice staff across the road at Cream.

    Despite its storied place in Canberra’s dining history, I refrain from visiting Gus’. The one reason: dirty glassware. Unless you want your coffee accompanied by months of encrusted scum, do not go.

    Decent but otherwise unremarkable coffee. A wide range of traditional Italian dishes. More a restaurant than a café so you may have to wait a while for your food. Bonus half star because they have chinotto, my preference for chasing a lunchtime coffee.
