I ordered an espresso with my le petit déjeuner and got a sort half-long-black thing. Pros: served at the perfect temperature, unlike all of Spain; cons: lacking a little in the flavour department.

I can’t guarantee you’ll have the same experience, but the entertainment is hard to beat. An on-foot police chase, complete with officers rushing the café, took place while I ate my breakfast.

Cafe creme (similar to an Australian flat white) was better than expected. Good coffee flavour and creamy.

Nestled in amongst the packed streets near les Forum de Halles is this perfectly average café. Not great, not terrible. I had a beautiful croissant with my le petit dejeuner, but the espresso was rather bland, though the right temperature at least.

A little pizza and pasta place not far from the Notre Dame. They serve normal sized espresso, though unfortunately, as I’ve come to expect in Europe, mine was burnt and rather tasteless.

Delighted to find a Melbourne style cafe that is serious about coffee. Looks tiny from the outside but has a series of quirky rooms each with their own ambiance. We enjoyed great coffee on cosy lounges - lovely break from long walks to see the sights.

Amazing. This place is simply perfect. The name translates literally to a coffee ‘library’, and there’s a great selection of single origin beans to choose from. The lounge is very comfortable - some great couches and a few tables, nice relaxing music, a…

After a few less than stellar espresso experiences in Paris, and with Decaf Sucks reviews a little thin on the ground in this part of the world, I decided to try some alternative sources for a decent café recommendation. Through the coffeegeek.com forum…
