Lion Café
Great little corner cafe with that funky Surry Hills vibe. My 3/4 double shot latte tasted great, full flavoured and caramely, but the foam contained several disconcertingly large bubbles.
Working here after 3:30pm on a weekday was a good option, since most other cafes were closed or closing. There were a few local office peeps having meetings, but it was pretty quiet and a good working space for cracking out the laptop. The carrot cake was unbelievably good and helped stave off the late afternoon munchies.
Off the main Surry Hills strips, Lion is an interesting little café with the service and espresso machine along a sidebar right next to the tables and chairs. My takeaway coffee was strong and flavoursome. Worth a repeat visit to learn a little more.

Great spot. First up I had a lovely flat white, using beans from Seven Seeds in Melbourne. Next I had a filter brew. Delicious, with Sample roasted beans, these from Costs Rica. If only I worked nearby, then I’d try make it my regular.

Lovely smooth coffee slightly expensive for a small but no bitterness, not scalding pretty much perfect coffee. The yoghurt with berries was awesome and only $5.50 for a reasonable serve. I highly recommend this cafe.
