Debacle
Although I haven’t been to Debacle for a while I do remember popping in there first thing in the morning on my way to work when I worked in Civic and getting some pretty good coffee with nice flavour and a great temperature.
Mid-afternoon lull coffee was pretty good - sat in front of their roaring fire, presented with artful short macchiato well balanced between rich and bitter. Will come back for more of that.
Marginal flat whites today - mine was much weaker than my other half’s one which was ‘blecky but drinkable.’ Breakfast was tasty but service a little lacking - eg the guy that tossed the cutlery onto the table rather than take another 1/2 second to put them down.
Coffee is good but don’t have it in the mug as I think it’s just a single shot. I still love the place as a hang out though! Good beer and food is good pub grub!! Debacle has saved me also many a morning web desperate for coffee and they are the only reasonable place open!!!
Many moons ago I was a regular at Debacle; they had fantastic breakfast, cute wait-staff, beer on tap and a decent coffee. Eventually though the breakfast became more expensive and less delicious, and the coffee became almost undrinkable.
For years I’d avoided visiting there for anything other than beer consumption, today I thought it’d had been long enough and I’d give it another go. Not long enough apparently. The coffee tastes just as terrible as I’d remembered—at least the beer was good.
Bustling pub-style eatery open 7 days and serving some decent espresso. Menu is filled with very tasty dishes for all three meals of the day. It gets pretty busy (and correspondingly noisy), so be prepared to wait a little for your food.
