Cafe Garema
Latte served at the right temperature with good flavour and texture.
Possibly the most cafe-infested strip in Canberra, 4 coffee outlets you could throw a blanket over. Cafe Garema looked the most promising & we were rewarded for our choice with a pretty good cappuccino & mocha - made from Ona beans, decent foam, everything in its right place. Will be back for more when next in Civic.
DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! I had brunch there, and asked for some Tabasco for my eggs. When I got the bill, they had charged me $2 for “Extra Food”! When I inquired about it, the manager told me that this is standard practice in all restaurants. Right. Never heard of this in my entire life.
They also charge a $2 credit card fee, when in reality their cost of accepting the payment is less than 1% of the bill, or 40 cents in my case.
This place sucks.
Excellent flat white. As mentioned in other reviews, the roast isn’t particularly strong, but still makes a very nice white coffee. Fast and attentive service, was good for an out-of-towner just taking a break on the way through Civic.
Depending on which Barista is on the machine the quality of coffee varies. Garema uses Ona beans which aren’t as strong as other blends out. Despite this I’ve had many flat whites and lattes at Cafe Garema. Out of Gus’s and Milk and Honey - Cafe Garema pours the most consistent, good tasting coffee. The service is always friendly and very efficient.
My flat white was fine, maybe a tad too foamy. This is a newish place that replaced My Cafe.
