Café Bones is one of our favourite places, but we are very much dog people. Between the dog park and the canal, it’s a lovely place to hang out. If you bring kids, make sure they’re comfy around dogs, as this is an off-leash dog park, and there are plenty of very large dogs around. If you bring yours, treat them to a puppaccino.

On the Leichhardt scale, the coffee varies from crap to ok. The baristas are not consistent in their technique. Don’t order an espresso or macchiato.

In contrast, the food is really good (try the Big Dog BLT), and they do a fine ice coffee. The gelato is lovely too.

If you just want really nice coffee, there’s far better places. But if you want a bite to eat while your dog runs around like a lunatic, Café Bones is hard to beat. Weekdays the park is lovely, but on warm weekend afternoons, there can be a bit of a queue.

If you have a dog, you might want to bring them to the dog park and buy them a puppacino and a liver treat. They’ll love it. The coffee for humans however is not quite as exciting. My double espresso was very long and on the bitter side, but the fact that I was sitting out in the sunshine in the park almost made up for it.

A coffee cart and some fake grass set up beside Le Montage function centre down by the water at Canada Bay. Sounds it would be nice, but it lacks a little something.

Had a great double mac at this cute little local café on a quiet Sunday morning. Warm wood interior, few tables out the front and friendly staff.

My local bike shop is great for my bikey bits and pieces, and they do tasty coffee to boot.

Claude’s has closed and replaced with the Orange Poppy Cafe. Yet to try it but will post a review when I do.

This could be my other new favourite local (Early Bird being the other), it’s a fantastic little neighbourhood cafe.

Friendly service, good coffee, solid breakfast options (including a breakfast burrito which I’m very excited about).

Good service from nice staff. I’ve only been here a few times and they remember my usual order. Coffee is always good.
