Beautifully smooth latte here.

There’s some talk about St. Ali’s quality going downhill since a change of owners. Personally I don’t see it. The regular crowds obviously don’t either.
I love the coffee (always have to order a second or more), love the food, and the beans. And I love the takeaway window, which really decreases the crowding inside.

This is the church of coffee. Expect lines of people during peak hours , so if you are not patient and appreciative, give it a miss :)

Spectacular coffee (single origin Colombian) – too delicious to leave without a second (or third).

Food is also excellent, if a little pricey.

Always a great way to start the week. Consistently good coffee… always at the right temperature. I still haven’t ventured outside of a latte at St Ali, but I’m looking forward to trying some of the more interesting coffee options on offer.

I find inside a bit busy, but the coffee is worth it. Love it when the takeaway hole in the wall is open across the street

This old garage turned coffee cathedral was well worth making the trek across town for on a Sunday morning. But it was seriously heaving with people, and there was a fairly long queue, so be prepared for a bit of a wait.

Great coffee and a very tasty breakfast, however I don’t think the coffee is as good as Brother Baba Budan.

Oh wow, this was a religious coffee experience. Amazing. I can totally understand why a queue of eager punters is a regular fixture outside St. Ali.

My choice from the delightful and inventive breakfast menu: “Childhood Memory,” plum and coconut bread with poached plums, coffee marscapone and cinnamon dukkah. Yes, it was as good as it sounds.

My macchiato was made using the Colombian single origin of the day. Perfectly prepared, delicious and smooth.

The café space is large but comfortable, with one large communal table, and plenty of differently sized ones to suit all groups (though you might have trouble getting a large group in at a busy time). Lots of nice timber around and other interesting ornamentations to keep your eyes amused while you wait for your food and drink. The service staff were fast and friendly and did a great job keeping up with the crowd.

If you’re in Melbourne, you owe it to yourself visit St. Ali!

Worst long black ever. Too hot. Too watery. Too full for an ill-fitting lid. Ruined my morning by spilling on my pants in a cab. Thanks Stove Monkey.

While this place can still hold its own with the food, and the coffee is still some of the better stuff in the area, the question is, “is it still worth the hassle of dealing with the arrogant and aloof staff?” The answer is a resounding “no”. I’ve live…
