Bitter Sweet
I go regularly. Generally very good coffee and some excellent food (breakfast and lunch) with their (relatively new) full time chef. It can get very busy particularly at weekends like a lot of other places in Canberra – but this suggests that people like what they see.

Came here six months ago & it was nice but a little disorganised. But we went there on the weekend & had a fantastic time. Lovely Veneziano coffee, attentive & friendly staff, amazing chicken club sandwich with fries & an owner who seems keen to get it all right. Tops
Don’t bother. Terrible service, cheerful enough staff but slow slow slow. We waited 25 minutes for our 2 coffees to arrive and 35 minutes for our food. I won’t be going back.
Very smooth and mild flat whites. They serve the normal brunch options on weekends (including gluten free Deeks bread). The macarons were a bit too dry and crispy, probably overdone.
It’s all about the coffee! I’m fairly new to Canberra and a bit of a coffee freak. Over the past year I’ve went out of my way to try as many different coffee shops in the area. I would have to say Bitter Sweet is definitely in the same group as Kingston Grind, Group 7 (in NICTA building), and Gus which in my opinion are tops for very consistent quality coffee served.
Excellent coffee (Latte just right and noted staff taking care over it) however the fruit toast I ordered came as two small pieces from the end of the loaf. For the price I’d expect a third small piece!
Kingston’s newest café gave a pretty well made double macchiato (only shortfall: a little too much milk, mixed all through the drink) and a lovely spot out in the morning sun where I could enjoy it.
Food range here is small but looks fresh and tasty, although not much going in the paleo-friendly department.
All up, a good new addition to the ring of cafés around Green Square. While it lacks a little personality, their offerings are definitely competent and worth checking out if you’re in the area.
Fabulous coffee, friendly people. They remembered my name on my second visit and the coffee was just as good. Next visit I plan to try an egg & bacon brioche….looked delicious & fresh!
Coffee and hot chocolate excellent at Bitter Sweet. New cafe in Kingston and serves fresh sandwiches, salads and desserts. Staff seem really friendly too. Go check it out.
